What does your business do?

I'm a fine artist who paints original impasto, palette knife, and oil paintings. My art is all about trying to capture the joy I find in life through extreme color, texture, and movement. I’m spreading a little happiness one painting at a time. My artwork truly engages the soul.

How did you first get started?

I studied fine art in the summer child prodigy program at Colorado State University starting when I was seven years old. I continued to study art from then on. It's always been my aim and desire to support myself with my art for as long as I can remember, and over the years my passion became my business.

I initially started selling my art when I was still a teenager, and I did a lot of commission-type work and helped paint murals in local restaurants. I got a bit side-tracked by life after I met my husband and moved around and had kids.

But then I started getting back into it by submitting my art in contests and teaching art lessons. For the past 25 years it’s been full-steam ahead, now I have my own gallery and my daughter works for me doing all of the web design for it.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your artwork?

Mainly nature, just seeing things grow, life and its energy. Having been born in a vibrant South American culture I really love color, especially primary colors. So those are the main things I’m attracted to that I bring into my art.

What made you want to share your art with the world?

Ha! I couldn’t keep it all in my house!

No, but really, I think art should be shared with the world. If it’s bringing joy to other people then I’ve done my part and that’s my whole reason for getting it out there. It’s about bringing a smile to someone’s face and brightening up their home.

As a small business owner, what’s the best piece of advice you could give to someone thinking of starting their own business?

Perseverance, don't give up. Be prolific and just keep going, don't ever take ‘no’ as an answer.

How did you discover CoverWallet, what has your customer experience been like?

I found CoverWallet on Google and it’s been excellent. I was in a situation where I didn’t have insurance for my gallery and I had to get coverage quickly. I searched around and everyone else I called either didn’t know what I needed or it was too expensive. Then I found you guys. I filled out the application and was done almost immediately, I got even more coverage than what I was originally planning for at a great price, so I'm just thrilled to have that.
