Majestic Grounds LLC is an Upper Marlboro, Maryland based business that specializes in residential and commercial landscaping and snow removal. We sat down with owner Roxanne Burroughs to learn more about why she started her business and her experience with CoverWallet.
What does your business do?
We’re commercial landscapers, our services include landscape installation, landscape design, ground maintenance, and snow removal. We work with commercial and residential clients as well as governments and municipalities.
How did your business get started?
I actually have a degree in interior design, but there weren’t too many job opportunities in that field so I started taking landscaping classes. I love being outdoors, and I already had an eye for design so landscaping was a natural fit for me. I’ve always wanted to start my own business and I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mind because everyone in my family has owned small businesses. I’ve been working in the industry now for 30 years.
As a female entrepreneur, do you have any advice for other women who want to start their own business?
Whatever your desire is, go for it. The road will get rough, but just remember to keep moving. Make sure you’re talking and getting in front of the right people, don’t wait for others to come to you; you’ve got to get it yourself. In addition, I would say, have integrity and make sure you’re the best at what you do.
