Will Guenther is the owner of Guenther Designs & Consulting, LLC. He specializes in residential design, renovation, and remodeling. We sat down with Will to learn more about his business.
Will Guenther has more than two decades of experience in the architectural and design industry, however, his career path took a bit of a detour during the economic recession in 2009.
“Due to dwindling business demand, the entire design staff were let go from the architecture firm I was working for. Since I already knew about property and construction, I decided to get my license as an insurance adjuster and worked for a few years in catastrophe management helping with claims following natural disasters.”
It was during this time, in 2014, that Will met a client who would change his perspective about owning a business.
“Through my contacts in the insurance industry, I was referred to a couple who needed help rebuilding their home after a devastating flood. They were living in a house that they loved, but it was built in 1948 and wasn’t suitable for a modern family. I knew that I could help them turn their dream home into a reality and it inspired me to start my own business. Today, every time I help a family make a space their own it reaffirms my decision.”
Will says that today, during a time when many people are opting to stay home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, that people truly appreciate the value of investing in their homes; and it’s kept him busy.
“As a sole proprietor I’m doing all the work myself; between writing proposals, designing, drafting, and communicating with clients it’s difficult to find enough time in the day to get everything done.”
One aspect he was able to save time on was his Professional Liability insurance.
